NSW MSEC

Advocating for Medical Staff Councils throughout NSW

The NSW MSEC is an organisation representing the 40 MSCs of the public hospitals of NSW.

All doctors employed at Public Hospitals in NSW have membership of a Medical Staff Council (MSC) at their hospital. Each MSC elects a Chairperson and Executive. The purpose of the MSC is to advocate for medical staff, to improve services and care for patients and to provide the executive of the hospital and the Local Health District (LHD) with advice relating to the provision of medical services.

The chairs of each MSC in NSW form the NSW Medical Staff Executive Council (NSWMSEC) and meet to discuss the broader issues relevant to doctors working in public hospitals across NSW.  NSW MSEC advocates for senior medical staff. NSW MSEC focuses on provision of care in public hospitals and helping doctors to achieve an effective work environment and working relationship with management, NSW Health and the NSW Health Minister in order to deliver the best possible care for NSW patients.
