NSWMSEC Presentation — Council of MSC Chairs (CoMSCCs) 2026 Survey

Presented by SU, LIG, AW, PDS. Key outcomes:

  1. Trends towards improved engagement between MSCs & MSECs with respective ELTs & District Boards.
  2. Acknowledgement of the requirement for 'both sides' to contribute effectively towards positive working relationships.
  3. Support in principle obtained to ensure true clinical representation via the MSCs & MSECs for 'at level' executive medical appointments (DMS, DDMS, ECD etc.).
  4. Developing direct relationships between LHD Board Chairs with MSC/MSEC Chairs discussed — the current SCHN model of private meetings between Board & MSC Chairs agreed for widespread implementation.
  5. Request to MoH to confirm protection and support for MSC Chairs in their advocacy role strongly agreed and offer for provision in writing accepted.
  6. MoH Team requesting to present NSW CoMSCCs 2026 Survey slide set to CEs & Board Chairs.

Shaping the System Project Update

Update provided by JFL (Jean Frederic Levesque):

  1. Announcement of the completion of two LHDs with all other LHDs scheduled up until April 2026.
  2. Wide range of clinicians interviewed thus far, inclusive of nursing, allied health and medical staff not involved with formal structures or MSCs.
  3. Feedback obtained from interviews thus far described as carrying similar themes as NSW CoMSCCs Survey results — with desire for more input, engagement and representation at managerial appointments.

Albury Wodonga Hospital Senior Medical Staff Association (AWHSMSA)

Discussion regarding AWHSMSA letter to NSWMSEC:

  1. NSW MoH Team describing multiple meetings with Victoria Health counterparts with advice given to engage clinician representatives.
  2. Looking after interests of NSW citizens remains a commitment of the NSW MoH Team.
  3. Safer Care Victoria Review results due in February 2026 eagerly awaited.
  4. NSW MoH noting that although deeply invested in mediation & advocacy, Albury Hospital operationally remains the remit of Victoria Health.
